so, PLEASE STOP WITH ALL THE 55 MONK THREADS/POSTS~!!!!
enjoy.
^^^ So is this a good idea or not? lol. I figured since the OP titled the thread "Solo 55 Monk questions (come here to ask)" I could ask somewhat intelligent ?'s about 55'ing and be okay.

Anyway, I have read all of your guides fellas and I'm not expecting to be spoon fed. I could pick it up by myself in a week or two or I could ask ?'s as I come across things while applying your guides and cut the learning curve significantly. Remember that you guys are the experts on this, and could do it with your eyes closed. I consider myself a competent player and I can assure you that 2 manning UW isn't something you pick up on your first couple of attempts.

Thanks for the replies Cerb and Tsunami -- appreciate your time. Makes sense on the differences between the builds, I can see that now after you explained it. Thanks for the SB clarification as well -- I'm glad I'm wrong as that would be a pain. Need to get back in there and figure out what I'm doing wrong.

As far as miscasting -- I won't say I haven't done it, however I do recognize it before it's too late.

And plz don't let this become a HoD vs FFS thread -- there's plenty of those already out there. 300-500K vs 10 minutes. Hmmmm.... Yes, I could afford it but I'm farming to make money, not spend it on something that at the end of the day really isn't needed. That and I take pride in being a 14^50 kind of guy.

Again, thanks for your time!

Unless what you mean by using a FFS is that it has some secret nuke button that will magically kill all those dryders and smites, other then that, your last gargle of stuff has no relavence to your theme.

(With fast recharge and 14 DF, you can recast it before your old copy wears off) Of course you would. Still, that's about luck, just like getting surrounded was about bad luck. It's a probability, a chance. However, you don't have that chance with a HoD.
I used to think that, but in the end I value +5 mana more then that. The only reason FFS is good is because it might recharge soj or sb you know? Having that recharge would be pretty sweet but.. I dunno It just isnt enough to cross me over.

I have had situations where I could just cast soj, before echo ran out, if i didnt use hod, how could i have casted soj.

I guess it varys GREATLY on play style, but I think we both put up good arguments, I am gonna go think about this some more.

Always nice chatting with an itelligent person

I don't really think you understand. In UW, your energy is nearly always full. why would you want +5? Besides, if you take dangerous aggros and/or do Ice King, the faster recharge helps tremendously when it happens. Of course it's about luck, but when it does happen, it helps a lot. You don't need +5 energy at all.

IMO HoD is just for show and for runners.

You can find this info in my guide. Thers a collector in the area outside serenety's temple that will trade scorched loadstones for a FFS. Use the search button if you still cant find it. Theres a LARGE thread about it.

I just use a regular axe with a 20% enchant mod and it works just fine. I've had a 55 monk for as long as I've been a member of this forum, I don't see the big deal over HOD or FFS. Neither one are really need for a 55 monk to run efficiently.

Yes, 20%-19% enchant does help doesnt matter what it is all though hod would help alittle but it is not required one bit, i use to go with a fellblade with 10% enchant in UW and i did fine, if anything i would practice solo farmin without enchant mod so you dont depend on it, or use blessed aura it adds to enchant length

the 10% is just a nice thing to have when casting. Personally, I dont use it when fighting...only when casting spells. I have my wand out majority of the time.

you cast it and every time you cast something it does damage. If you cast it too fast, it works like an AoE and the monsters will scatter.

Hold up hold up?

What the heck is the big deal over the FFS? It improves skill recharge 10% of the time?

Is there anything else? I realize that 10% I guess is the best choice... just wondering if there are any other mods.... Thanks!

As long as you have 18-20% enchant, you are fine. The FFS isn't a must-have, it's very situational. If, say you're farming trolls, you can kill trolls in one round of SoJ and you get the fast recharge from FFS, it isn't too great. However, if you are in UW, for example, with SB and are in a bad position and the SB happen to fast recharge, then it probably just saved your life.

In short, FFS isn't needed at all, it's about chance. When that chance happens at the right time though, trust me you'll be really happy

So the only mod the FFS has by default is the skill recharge?
